Cumilla: Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam today described the Rammala Library as a priceless repository of cultural heritage. ‘The manuscripts and books preserved here are important records of the nation’s history and heritage. It is crucial to preserve them digitally. I will inform the Ministry of Culture so that measures can be taken for digitization without delay,’ he told reporters after visiting the library here.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahfuj emphasized that Cumilla’s traditional Rammala Library houses thousands of rare manuscripts, ancient books, newspapers, and historical documents. Despite its significant role in the history of Bengali literature, the library has long been neglected.

Mahfuj also mentioned that the small museum attached to the Rammala Library contains many old coins, artworks, and historical artifacts. He stressed the need for modern conservation measures to protect these assets.

Earlier, Mahfuj visited the site designated for a modern information complex along the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in the Jagurjhuli area of Cumilla and inquired about the progress of the project. The visit was attended by Deputy Commissioner Amirul Kaiser, Superintendent of Police Nazir Ahmed Khan, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam, among others.
