Dhaka: Bangladesh is set to begin their preparation for the upcoming two-match Test series against Ireland on November 8. The Test specialists, apart from Taijul Islam, are currently participating in the second round game of the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL). The Test players who were part of the T20 series against West Indies will have a few days off before joining the squad.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh has participated in four Test matches this year, with their last series against Sri Lanka in June. They drew the series against Zimbabwe 1-1 and suffered a 0-1 series loss against Sri Lanka. The upcoming two-match Test series against Ireland will commence on November 11 in Sylhet, with the second Test slated to begin on November 19 in Mirpur.
Mushfiqur Rahim is poised to become the first Bangladeshi player to reach the milestone of 100 Test matches during the Ireland series. The second Test in Mirpur will mark his 100th Test appearance. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has hinted at celebrating this occasion with various activities.
The announcement of the squad and the appointment of the new Test captain is anticipated following a board of directors' meeting scheduled for November 3.
