Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has emphasized that ideology-based politics can put an end to the practice of evil politics in Bangladesh. "We will have to pursue politics for establishing good ideals. We must practice ideal politics, we must practice good politics, and in this way evil politics will be eliminated from Bangladesh, Insha'Allah," he said. Salahuddin made these remarks while addressing a grand rally titled 'Azmate Sahaba' at the Central Eidgah ground.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salahuddin criticized the previous government led by Sheikh Hasina as being anti-Islamic and referred to it as a fascist regime. He stated that the general public witnessed the Awami League's approach to politics, noting that Islamic clerics faced intimidation during their rule. Salahuddin asserted that the Awami League's political era ended by what he described as the command of Almighty Allah.
The BNP leader pointed out that in Bangladeshi politics, there is an ongoing attempt to exploit Islam to gain political advantages, especially before elections. He accused a political party of trying to create divisions among Muslims by using Islam for their political gain. Salahuddin highlighted that over ninety-two percent of Bangladesh's population are Muslims, practicing the Islam of Modina, as established by Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions.
Salahuddin further warned against the followers of Mawdudi Islam, urging caution against those who create fitna (strife) and mislead Muslims in Bangladesh. The event, presided over by Jamiat Ulamaye leader Mufti Monir Hossain Kashemi, was attended by District BNP Convener Mamun Mahmud, Joint Convener Mashukul Islam Rajib, BNP leader Masuduzzaman Masud, and Mohanagar BNP Convener Sakkhawat Hossain Khan.
