Dhaka: Palli Karma-Shayak Foundation (PKSF) is making special interventions for the development of cottage and micro enterprises in the country. The decision was made at the 262nd meeting of the PKSF Governing Body held today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was presided over by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan and attended by Governing Body Members Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Nurun Nahar, Farzanah Chowdhury, Prof Dr. Md Taufiqul Islam, and Lila Rashid, as well as PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader. The meeting was informed that while cottage and micro enterprises are a key source of employment, their contribution to the national economy is still not as significant.
In response to this situation, PKSF has allocated Taka 4,783 crore for the development of these enterprises. The Partner Organizations of PKSF are expected to supplement this amount with additional funds from both internal and external sources, with the aim of disbursing around Taka 90,000 crore to entrepreneurs at the grassroots level.
