Bhola: Shipping and, Labour and Employment Adviser Brig Gen (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain today asserted that there is no confusion regarding the forthcoming Jatiya Sangsad election, emphasizing that the interim government is prepared to assist the Election Commission in conducting the polls.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Sakhawat Hussain clarified the interim government's role, stating, "The objective of the interim government is now clear that we are holding the election. The responsibility for organizing the election lies entirely with the Election Commission, and there is no scope for government interference. The interim government will only provide necessary assistance." He shared these remarks while inaugurating the newly constructed three-storey terminal building at Betua River Port in Charfession upazila of Bhola district.
Dr. Sakhawat also touched upon local economic concerns, noting the changes in hilsa fish migration patterns. "Once upon a time, hilsa fish were abundant in the Padma River, but now they migrate down through Chandpur to Bhola. At present, the largest number of hilsa comes from Bhola," he explained. He emphasized the government's focus on marginalized communities, stating, "Our main goal is to work for the welfare of the marginalized people, and that is exactly what we are doing."
The event was attended by several notable figures including Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Chairman Commodore Arif Ahmed Mustafa, Charfession Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rasna Sharmin Mithi, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Emadul Hossain, and Assistant Superintendent of Police (Charfession Circle) Mehedi Hasan. In the afternoon, Dr. Sakhawat also inaugurated a newly constructed pontoon at Gachir Khal launch terminal in Nurabad Union of Charfession upazila.
