Dhaka: Seeds and fertilizers were distributed among 10,103 small and marginal farmers in Nagarpur upazila of the district today to increase the production of various winter crops. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Arafat Mohammad Noman inaugurated the program as the chief guest during a function held at Nagarpur Upazila Parishad auditorium on Monday morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, seeds and fertilizers were distributed to 10,130 farmers from Mamudnagar and Nagarpur Sadar unions of the upazila on the inaugural day. This assistance will be extended to farmers of other unions at a later stage.
Upazila Agriculture Officer SM Rashedul Hasan presided over the event. The program also featured special guests, including Upazila Livestock Officer Md. Abul Momin, BRDB Chairman Ahmed Ali Rana, Officer-in-Charge of Nagarpur Police Station (Investigation) Md. A. Quddus, Secondary Education Officer Nadir Ahmed, Upazila Engineer (LGED) Md. Torap Ali, and Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Masum Billah.
Fertilizer and seeds of wheat, mustard, winter onion, lentils, and khesari pulses were distributed to increase food grain production during the Rabi season and reduce the production costs for small and marginal farmers.
