9th Colonel Commandant Coronation and Commander Conference Held at Kadirabad Cantonment

Kadirabad: The 9th Colonel Commandant Coronation of the Corps of Engineers and the Annual Commander Conference 2025 unfolded at the Engineer Centre and School of Military Engineering (ECSME) at Kadirabad Cantonment in Natore. Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman graced the occasion as the chief guest, as mentioned in an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, upon his arrival at ECSME, General Waker-uz-Zaman was welcomed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army Training and Doctrine Command, the Engineer-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Army, and the Commandant of ECSME. During the event, General Waker-Uz-Zaman was officially crowned as the 9th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineers.



Following the coronation, the army chief engaged with commanders and officials of the Corps of Engineers, discussing technical development, research, professional skill advancement, and future prospects. In his address, General Waker-Uz-Zaman honored the bravery of freedom fighters, especially acknowledging the sacrifices of the Corps of Engineers’ soldiers during the Liberation War of 1971.



The army chief emphasized the Corps of Engineers’ longstanding tradition in nation-building and praised its contributions to the country’s development. He remarked on the Corps’ commitment to continue its role in national progress, driven by integrity and a strong sense of duty.



The event was attended by several distinguished figures, including the GOC, Army Training and Doctrine Command; Director General, BIISS; Chief Consultant General, Adhoc Construction Supervision Consultant; Engineer-in-Chief, Adjutant General; GOC, 11 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Bogura Area; senior military officials of Army Headquarters; Commandant of ECSME; and commanders of all Engineer Brigades and units of the Bangladesh Army.
