Dhaka: A new political party, the Bangladesh Republican Party (BRP), has been officially granted the elephant as its symbol. The Election Commission (EC) today presented the certificate for the elephant symbol to the party's chairman, KM Abu Hanif Ridoy, at the EC Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a notification issued by the EC Secretariat, signed by its Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, confirmed that the EC has registered the Bangladesh Republican Party as a political entity in compliance with directives from the Supreme Court. The notification further detailed that the party has been assigned registration number 57, and the elephant will serve as its official symbol.
