Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 659 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that out of the 659 new cases, 126 patients were hospitalised in the Barishal division, 104 in the Chattogram division, and 170 in the Dhaka division excluding the capital. Additionally, 57 cases were recorded in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 124 in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. The Khulna division reported 31 new cases, while the Mymensingh division saw 47 new hospitalisations.
Since the onset of the dengue outbreaks this year, Bangladesh has witnessed a total of 259 deaths with the disease affecting 64,297 individuals. In the previous year, dengue claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people across the country.
