Three Killed in Fatal Collision on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway

Narsingdi: Three people were killed on Thursday night when a passenger bus hit an auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabdi upazila of the district. The accident took place around 11:30 pm in the Rainadi area, police said.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Siam Mia, 22, son of Azizul Islam, Sabbir Hossain, 28, son of Altaf Hossain, and auto-rickshaw driver Fahim Mia, 30, son of Robiul Islam-all residents of Rainadi village under Nuralapur Union in Sadar upazila. Relatives said the victims were returning home from Madhabdi when a Sylhet-bound bus hit their auto-rickshaw, leaving them critically injured.

Itakhola Highway Officer in Charge Monir Hossain reported that two of the victims died on the spot while the third succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital. Police recovered the bodies and impounded the bus, although its driver and assistant fled the scene, OC added.
