Dhaka: The government has created 2,258 new posts in the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) structure at various levels of the paramilitary force, as disclosed by a home ministry official today. The newly established positions range from director to sepoy level, aligning with the BGB's requirements.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the development will increase the total number of posts in the BGB from 57,477 to 59,735. Officials familiar with the process noted that the home ministry previously proposed the creation of these posts, which were approved by the Committee of Secretaries on Administrative Development on September 10 and subsequently by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
An official document made available to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reveals that the expanded organogram includes three new directors, nine additional directors, and nine deputy directors, who will be appointed to the BGB on deputation from the armed forces division. The three director-level posts are designated for officers equivalent to lieutenant colonels, majors, and captains.
The revised BGB structure will also include three police officers of inspector rank on deputation. The remaining positions will be filled in accordance with BGB appointment regulations. These positions include three subedars major, 57 nayeb subedars, 240 habildars, 285 nayeks, 15 lance nayeks (office assistant), 327 lance nayeks, 15 soldiers (office assistant), and 1,221 soldiers or sepoys.
In addition, civilian staff to be recruited include three imams, three accountants, three upper division clerks, three office assistant cum computer typists, three midwives, and three office associates. Some of the newly created posts aim to enhance manpower at the BGB's Guimara Hospital, including seven habildars, three nayeks, six lance nayeks, and 14 soldiers.
