Manikganj: The World Statistics Day and the National Statistics Day 2025 were observed in Manikganj under the joint auspices of the Manikganj District Administration and the District Statistics Office. The observance included a rally and a discussion, emphasizing the theme 'Driving change with quality statistics and data for everyone.'
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the day began with a colourful rally in the district town, which saw participation from government officials, social workers, and local journalists from both print and electronic media. Following the rally, a discussion was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner, presided over by Dr. Manwar Hossein Malla.
The function featured speeches from several key officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Ali, Deputy Director of Statistics Md. Minar Uddin, District Information Officer Nur Hossain, and District Education Officer Md Amir Hossain. They collectively underscored the pivotal role of reliable and high-quality data in decision-making and policy development, which is essential for sustainable progress.
The speakers highlighted that no nation can develop without accurate statistics, as future planning and development are dependent on them. They warned that while accurate statistics can lead to improved living conditions, inaccurate statistics could have devastating consequences. The discussions further emphasized the necessity of flawless statistics for effective planning and the need for all authorities to collaborate in collecting and disseminating authentic data for nation-building initiatives.
