Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Rezaul Karim Khokon, the former mayor of Baroirhat Municipality and former general secretary of Mirsarai Upazila Awami League. This legal action is based on allegations of concealing information in his asset declaration to the ACC and accumulating wealth beyond his known sources of income.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the case was filed by ACC deputy assistant director Jasim Uddin. The allegations center around Rezaul Karim's failure to disclose details of immovable assets valued at Taka 11.44 lakh in his declaration to the ACC. Furthermore, it is alleged that he amassed wealth exceeding Taka 1.44 crore beyond his declared income sources.
The ACC initiated the investigation following a complaint lodged with the commission. The case highlights the ongoing efforts by the ACC to address corruption and ensure transparency in public office.
