Young Chess Players Shine Against Russian GM

Dhaka: Russian Chess Grandmaster (GM) Petr Kiriakov participated in a simultaneous chess exhibition with under-14 boys and girls held at the Bangladesh Chess Federation’s sports room here today (Friday). A total of 26 young chess players under-14 took part in this special event. Among them, Shayan Mehrab, a student of Dhaka Chess Academy, achieved a remarkable victory against the Russian Grandmaster Petr Kiriakov.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, female FIDE Master Warsia Khushbu and Safayet Kibria Azaan managed to draw their games against the Grandmaster. The event served as a valuable experience for the young chess players, giving them the rare opportunity to play against a world-class opponent.



Their impressive performances reflect a promising future for chess in Bangladesh.
