Dhaka: The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a notable surge in its turnover reaching Taka 6.1 billion. This significant figure marks a substantial increase of 14.4 per cent compared to the turnover recorded in the DSE's previous session. The DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, declined by 30.5 points or 0.6% to close below the 5,200-mark, settling down to 5,197 points compared to 5,228 points in the previous session.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on the sectoral front, General Insurance issues exerted the highest turnover at 13.9%, followed by Pharma at 12.6% and Textile at 11.4%. All the sectors, except Mutual Fund which stood at 1.5%, displayed negative returns. IT, Paper, and Life Insurance sectors led the decline of the session with decreases of 2.7%, 2.5%, and 2.4% respectively.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 104 advanced, 231 declined, and 62 remained unchanged. The port city bourse, CSE, also experienced a bearish session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) decreased by 29.9 and 54.1 points, respectively.
