Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has scheduled a meeting with law enforcement agencies on October 20 to discuss preparations for the upcoming 13th parliamentary election. EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed announced this at a press briefing held at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting will bring together representatives from various law enforcement bodies, including the army, air force, and navy. The focus of the discussions will be on maintaining law and order during the election period. The EC aims to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process by coordinating efforts with these organizations.
Secretary Akhtar Ahmed also provided an update on the development of an app for expatriate voters, stating that its launch is anticipated between the last week of October and the first week of November. This initiative is part of the EC’s ongoing efforts to facilitate voting for citizens abroad.
Ahmed emphasized that election preparation is a continuous process, with several preparatory tasks already completed and more underway. The EC remains committed to ensuring that all necessary measures are in place ahead of the elections.
In addressing the registration of local observers, Ahmed expressed gratitude to the media for their role in providing valuable information about observer organizations. This input will help the EC identify credible observers who can contribute to a fair election process.
Furthermore, Ahmed mentioned that dialogues with various stakeholders are ongoing, reflecting the EC’s commitment to engaging with different parties involved in the electoral process.
