Danish Envoy Meets Jamaat Ameer to Discuss Election and Bilateral Relations

Dhaka: Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Christian Brix Moller paid a courtesy call on Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at the latter’s office in the capital’s Bashundhara this morning. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of Mission at the Danish Embassy Anders B. Carlsen.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ambassador inquired about the health of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and extended wishes for his speedy recovery. The discussions highlighted the significance of the upcoming national election in Bangladesh. The Jamaat representatives expressed their hope for Denmark’s continued support and technical assistance to ensure that the election is conducted in a free, fair, and acceptable manner.



The meeting also included a constructive dialogue on strengthening sustainable democracy and ensuring the independence of democratic institutions in Bangladesh. Both parties expressed optimism about the potential growth in bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Denmark in the future.



In addition to the Danish envoy and his deputy, Jamaat leaders Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Assistant Secretary General and head of the party’s central publicity and media wing, and Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Ameer, were present during the meeting.
