Dhaka: The Supreme Court administration has issued a directive to establish separate judicial magistrate courts in all districts across the country to ensure the speedy disposal of cases pending in magistrate courts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the related notification, signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Mohammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee, was issued on October 13 and was published today on the website of the apex court.
The notification highlighted the heavy workload of cognizance courts, stating that the concerned magistrates are unable to devote sufficient time to their judicial duties during daily working hours. Therefore, it emphasized the necessity of establishing separate Judicial Magistrate Courts in all districts.
To address this issue and ensure the swift resolution of cases in magistrate courts, the concerned authorities have instructed all Chief Judicial Magistrates and Chief Metropolitan Magistrates to take necessary measures. This involves reassigning some existing courts to function solely as Judicial Magistrate Courts while others operate exclusively as cognizance courts.
