Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today announced that tougher departmental action would be taken against police personnel found to have played a biased role in the upcoming parliamentary election. 'If any policeman is found playing a biased role in the upcoming general election will have to face the music,' he stated during the DMP's monthly crime review meeting held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DMP Commissioner emphasized the need to establish a suitable environment for a fair and orderly national election, which is approaching. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that no weaknesses in police work are exposed during this period.
The DMP Chief further mentioned that instructions have already been given to the concerned officials to ensure that no one, particularly organizations whose activities have been banned, can disrupt the election environment. Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md. Sarwar and Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S.N. Md. Nazrul Islam also addressed the meeting. Senior officials of the DMP were present at the gathering.
