Rajshahi: Speakers at a training programme today emphasized that the knowledge acquired from Imam training could be a vital means of eliminating the moral degradation of youths. The trained imams could play a crucial role in eradicating various forms of social degradation and menaces. This was highlighted at the certificate-giving and closing session of the regular 45-day foundation training course for the 1190th batch of the Imam Training Academy, held at its conference hall in Rajshahi.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was addressed by the Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), Muhammad Abu Sufian, who attended as the chief guest, with Dr. Asem Ali, Deputy Director of the academy, presiding over the session. Abu Sufian pointed out that imams have a significant role in ensuring food security due to their strong connections with various sections of society, which is unmatched by other professions.
Abu Sufian also highlighted that imams are well-positioned to disseminate crucial messages related to innovative and modern agricultural technologies, as well as high-yielding varieties of crops, fruits, and vegetables, to grassroots communities. He urged religious leaders to share this information with the public to build a peaceful society by eliminating all forms of malpractices prevalent in the community.
