Habiganj: At least 30 passengers were injured when a 'Unique Paribahan' bus overturned in the Shahpur Haritala area under Madhabpur upazila of the district this afternoon. The accident took place on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at around 1pm as the Sylhet-bound bus from Dhaka lost control while overtaking another vehicle, as stated by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shayestaganj Highway Police Station, Shuvo Ranjan Chakraborty.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, out of the injured passengers, at least 15 were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital in critical condition. The remaining passengers have been treated for minor injuries at various local hospitals, including the Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex.
Local residents, along with police, responded quickly to the scene of the accident, assisting in the rescue efforts for the injured, as reported by the OC.
