CHT Affairs Ministry’s First Secretary Golam Rahman Passes Away

Dhaka: The first secretary to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Kazi Golam Rahman, passed away due to complications related to old age at his residence in Gulshan. He was 83 years old.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Kazi Golam Rahman began his government service career in 1967 as an officer in the then Police Service of Pakistan (PSP). Throughout his distinguished career, he held various significant positions, including Director General of the National Security Intelligence (NSI), Additional Inspector General of Police of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, and Chairman of the Power Development Board. He was appointed as the first secretary of the CHT affairs ministry in 1998.

Sabita Rahman, the daughter of Golam Rahman, stated that the first Namaz-e-Janaza for her father was conducted at the Rajarbagh Police Lines Mosque after Maghrib prayer. His body will remain at his Gulshan residence until 5 am tomorrow and will then be transported to their family graveyard at Chhagalnaiya upazila in Feni for burial following the Zahr prayer.
