Bagerhat: Like the rest of the country, typhoid vaccination has started in Bagerhat for children aged 9 months to 15 years. Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Kamrul Ahsan inaugurated the vaccination programme at the city's Government Girls' High School this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was attended by Bagerhat Civil Surgeon Dr. A. S. Md. Mahbubul Alam, Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon's Office Dr. Sheikh Riyaduz Zaman, World Health Organization Representative Dr. Riasat Azim Ratul, District Education Officer Mohd. Sadequl Islam, along with teachers, students, and guardians. The vaccination programme is set to continue for the next 18 working days, aiming to vaccinate a total of 4 lakh 11 thousand 381 children across 1,858 vaccination centers and 2,221 educational institutions in Bagerhat.
So far, more than a lakh of children have registered in the Bagerhat district. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of the vaccine in preventing typhoid disease and urged everyone to participate in the program. The vaccination initiative is being rolled out simultaneously across 9 upazilas and 3 municipalities of Bagerhat, including Kachua and Mollahat, as well as the Bagerhat 250-bed hospital.
