Paturia: The ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia river route on the Padma resumed from 7:20 am today after a 3.20-hour suspension caused by dense fog, according to Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat sources.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BIWTC Paturia Ghat Assistant General Manager (AGM) Abdus Salam stated that the ferry operations were halted at 4 am on Sunday due to dense fog that severely affected visibility on the river route. This disruption impacted several ferries carrying vehicles and passengers.
AGM Abdus Salam also reported that four ferries, namely Hasna Hena, Khan Zahan Ali, Shahid Barkat, and Kumilla, were stationed at the Paturia Ghat, while three ferries, Shah Mokdum, Shah Poran, and Baiger, remained at Daulatdia Ghat. Additionally, three ferries, Shahid Motiur Rahman and Shah Enayetpuri, were stranded in the middle of the Padma River, all fully loaded with vehicles and passengers.
The fog-induced suspension led to a significant number of vehicles, including passenger buses, trucks, and other vehicles, being stranded at both ghats.
