Dhaka: BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu announced that political parties in the country will unite on a single platform with the signing of the 'July Charter'. This significant event is scheduled to take place on October 15, aiming to consolidate various political factions under one banner.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, discussions among the parties have already been conducted within the consensus commission, leading to this pivotal agreement. Dudu made these remarks while speaking to reporters after paying tribute at the grave of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
The event was organized by the newly formed Mymensingh district unit of Tati Dal, which also held a doa mahfil. Dudu emphasized the support for the interim government that emerged following the July mass uprising. He expressed confidence that the next elected government will endorse this interim administration through parliamentary processes.
Highlighting the ongoing democratic movement, Dudu noted that Tarique Rahman has been actively seeking to unite the nation and restore democracy for the past 16 to 17 years. He paid respect to Rahman and honored those who were martyred and injured during the July uprising.
Dudu stressed that the democratic movement persists, with the ultimate goal of establishing a people-oriented government through fair elections. He mentioned that conspiracies continue both domestically and internationally, underscoring that public unity remains the strongest asset in this struggle.
The event saw participation from Mymensingh District Tati Dal Convener Abdul Kalam, Desh Bachao Manush Bachao Andolan President K.M. Rakibul Islam Ripon, as well as various party leaders and activists.
