Brahmanbaria: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a special operation today seized a huge quantity of Indian sarees and glasses (chashma) worth about Tk 8 crore from Kasba and Monipur border in Brahmanbaria district. A team of Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) of BGB conducted a special anti-smuggling operation in the border areas of Kasba and Moinpur under Kasba Upazila in Brahmanbaria district based on special information this morning, said a BGB press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BGB seized a large amount of Indian high-quality sarees and glasses valued at approximately Tk 8 crore during the operation. Sultanpur Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Ziaur Rahman stated that apart from maintaining border security, 60 BGB's operational and intelligence activities are ongoing to prevent all types of cross-border crimes, including the smuggling of illegal goods through the border.
In line with these efforts, the BGB successfully seized the Indian goods. The operation is part of BGB's continuous efforts to combat smuggling activities in the region. Lt. Col. Md. Ziaur Rahman emphasized that such operations will persist in the future to ensure peace and order in the border areas. He further assured that BGB remains vigilant to maintain security in the region.
