Dhaka: A court here today imposed a travel ban on Awami League leader and former lawmaker from Jaipurhat-1 constituency, Shamsul Alam Dudu, his wife Meher Nigar, daughter Nazmin Tania, and son Meheraj Alam over graft allegations. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the anti-graft body stated in its plea that it had formed an investigation team to probe corruption allegations against the former lawmaker. The investigation found that the accused amassed significant illegal wealth through corruption and is still attempting to launder the money abroad.

The ACC's plea argued that for the sake of proper investigation, a travel ban should be imposed on Shamsul Alam Dudu and his family members to prevent any attempts to flee the country or obstruct the investigation process.
