Kishoreganj: A man was killed after being struck by lightning at Karancha Barahati village under Dhanpur union in Itna upazila of the district this afternoon. The deceased was identified as Suranjit Das, 27, son of Parash Das, a resident of the same village. The incident occurred when Suranjit was catching fish with his father in a water body near their house. He was rushed to Itna Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty physician declared him dead. Dhanpur Union Parishad Chairman Pradeep Kumar confirmed the incident.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tragic event unfolded while Suranjit Das and his father were engaged in fishing activities, a common practice for many residents in the area. The sudden lightning strike left little time for reaction, resulting in a fatal outcome for Suranjit. Local authorities, represented by Dhanpur Union Parishad Chairman Pradeep Kumar, have confirmed the details surrounding the incident.
