Dhaka: Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Mohammad Tajul Islam today announced that all individuals involved in the previous year's July-August Uprising killings would face trial. He emphasized that no one involved would be spared or granted indemnity, asserting that it is impossible for anyone to evade justice for their actions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Prosecutor assured that the law operates independently and impartially, dismissing any notion that perpetrators could escape trial after committing such severe crimes in Bangladesh. He further addressed doubts regarding the trial process, stating that such skepticism would be proven unfounded.
Advocate Tajul Islam highlighted that the investigation phase for these cases is complete, with formal charges being submitted to the tribunal progressively. He confirmed that the trial process has commenced, with several charges nearing their final stages. The prosecution is determined to ensure that those responsible for the crimes against humanity are tried within the country's legal framework.
He reiterated that the ICT is progressing correctly and confidently, anticipating that the trials of the mass killers will be concluded within the designated timeframe.
