Bogura: A total of 9.5 lakh children will be brought under the typhoid vaccination campaign in the Bogura district under the government's Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI). So far, registration of 2.5 lakh children has already been completed. The information was revealed at a district-level consultation meeting held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Hosna Afroza presided over the meeting, which was attended by key district officials including Superintendent of Police Zedan Al Musa, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council Gazi Shahnewaz, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mejbaul Karim, and Civil Surgeon Dr. Khurshid Alam. The campaign, set to begin on October 12, aims to administer one dose of the typhoid vaccine to all children aged between 9 months and 15 years, including students from pre-primary to grade 9.
Health officials have noted that children suffering from fever will not be vaccinated until they fully recover. During the meeting, speakers emphasized the importance of public awareness and the need to counter misinformation to ensure the success of the campaign. The presence of UNICEF representative Shahidul Hasan underscored the significance of the initiative, alongside local media leaders like President of Bogura Press Club Rezaul Hasan Ranu and President of Bogura Journalists Union Ganesh Das.
