Maheshpur: A battalion commander-level meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) took place at the Maheshpur border to address critical issues such as border killings and smuggling. The meeting was held at 8 am at the Zero Line adjacent to the border pillar 53 in the Matila BOP area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh delegation was led by 58 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Md. Rafiqul Alam, while the Indian side was led by 59 BSF Battalion Commander Shailesh Kumar. The discussions, lasting two hours, covered a range of border-related issues, including maintaining cordial relations, ensuring a stable border situation, and taking measures against human trafficking, cattle smuggling, and drug smuggling.
The meeting saw participation from ten personnel, including staff officers from both the 58 BGB and 59 Battalion BSF. Both sides committed to sustaining good relations in the future.
