Debidwar: National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer (Southern region) Hasnat Abdullah today criticized individuals who spend vast sums of money to become Members of Parliament, claiming their primary interest lies in business rather than the welfare of the people.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hasnat Abdullah addressed a public gathering in Debidwar upazila of Cumilla, where he expressed concerns over the motivations of those entering politics. He stated, 'Their main objective is to do business, not to serve people or work for national development. If development is carried out properly and people's expectations are fulfilled, there is no need to seek votes.'
He emphasized the importance of genuine development for the area, declaring, 'We do not need to do business. What we need is the development of our area, and we will do whatever is necessary for that purpose.'
Abdullah also urged the public to be vigilant and identify candidates with business motives. 'We must understand their intentions. If votes are given to such businessmen in politics, the desired development of the area will never be achieved. First, we must make ourselves aware,' he warned.
He called for unity among residents, stating, 'Political parties exploit your disunity for their own gains. We must remain united for the sake of our area and our own interests.' The event was attended by local NCP leaders, its youth front, and residents of the area.
