Kurigram: The third day of a seven-day traditional small (Dingi) boat race was held today on the Baromasia River in Fulbari upazila of the district. The event, organized in memory of the late Shamshul Pagla, drew thousands of spectators from the local community.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the race is being coordinated by Dulal Mia and the local youth society and began on September 29 at 4 pm. The organizers detailed that the races are held every two days, with around eight to ten small boats competing in each event.
Rokhsana Khatun, a local teacher, mentioned that this is the first time small canoe boat racing competitions are being organized in the area.
