Seven Awami League Members Arrested in Dhaka Raids

Dhaka: The Detective Branch (DB) of Police conducted separate raids over the past 24 hours, resulting in the arrest of seven leaders and activists from the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations across various locations in the capital.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the individuals arrested include Salim Patwari, aged 40, who serves as the president of Jubo League of North Hamchadi Union No. 1 in Sadar Upazila of Lakshmipur district. The arrests also encompassed Abu Said, a 42-year-old active worker of Dhaka Turag Thana Awami League; Masud Parvez, 47, the member secretary of the Kamalapur branch of the National Workers League; and Md. Mahbub Alam, 48, the general secretary of Jubo League of Bangshal Thana in Dhaka.



Further detainees include Khwaja Tipu Farhad alias Molla, 30, co-secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan North Chhatra League; former President of Ward 28 of Dhaka City North Awami League, Md. Kamal Hossain Mridha, 37; and Md. Sagar Hasan, 32, a member of the Rajshahi District Chhatra League.



Separate DB teams executed these arrests during operations in the Arambagh area under Paltan Police Station, Bhatulia area under Turag Police Station, Motijheel-Nayabazar intersection under Bangshal Police Station, Mirpur, Darus Salam Police Station area, and Basila area under Mohammadpur Police Station on Monday and Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner of DB (media and public relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed the arrests.
