Coast Guard Apprehends 24 Cement Smugglers En Route to Myanmar

Chattogram: Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested 24 smugglers who were attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of cement from Bangladesh to Myanmar in exchange for drugs. During the operation, two boats and 850 bags of cement were confiscated.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq revealed that the Coast Guard Chattogram Base carried out a special operation based on confidential information and uncovered an illegal transfer of cement from a cargo boat to a fishing boat, bypassing customs and taxes, with Myanmar as the intended destination.



During the operation, the smugglers were arrested and two boats involved in the smuggling, along with a significant amount of cement, were confiscated. Legal proceedings against the smugglers are currently underway.
