Barishal: Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed visited the District and Sessions Judge Court here this morning, accompanied by a seven-member delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the visit included an inspection of the court's legal aid centre and Nyayakunja, where the Chief Justice and the UNDP delegation spent more than an hour. Sheikh Faruque Hossain, the Barishal District and Sessions Judge, mentioned that this visit was part of a series of seminars organized by the UNDP across divisional cities, with the final seminar taking place today in Barishal.
This is the second visit of the Chief Justice to the court, where he expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing activities. The UNDP delegation shared their optimism that the court's efforts would facilitate easier access to the trial process for the country's poor and distressed citizens.
Following the court visit, the Chief Justice attended a seminar titled 'Judicial Independence and Efficiency' at the Hotel Grand Park. The seminar, organized by the UNDP, was attended by prominent judicial figures, including Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zahir Uddin, Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Masudur Rahman, and various tribunal judges and association leaders.
