BCB Releases Draft Voters’ List for Upcoming Election

Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today announced the draft voters’ list ahead of the much-anticipated board of directors’ election, which is set to take place on October 6.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the final voter list was initially scheduled for release on September 25, but it will now be published on September 26, as per a revised schedule shared by a BCB press release. The new schedule outlines that nomination forms will be distributed exclusively on September 27, while submission is set for September 28, as previously planned. The final list of verified nominations will be released on September 29.



Candidates will have until October 1 to withdraw nominations, with the final candidate list also being announced on the same day. The election results are expected to be made public at 6:00 pm on October 6. On that day, the president and vice-president elections will take place at 7:30 pm, with results to be declared by 9:00 pm.



Current BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul and former cricket captain Tamim Iqbal have already declared their intentions to run in the elections. The race also includes several other notable candidates. Aminul Islam Bulbul has secured his councillorship from the Dhaka Divisional Sports Association, while Tamim Iqbal is representing the Old DOHS club.



Former BCB President Faruk Ahmed has taken up a councillorship from Rangers Cricket Academy. Notable former players nominated by the BCB include Javed Omar Belim, Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Mohammad Ehsanul Haque, Mohammad Ali Khan, Khaled Masud Pilot, and Mohammad Hasibul Hossain Shanto.



The voter list also features former cricketers Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, Mohammad Shafiqul Haque, Roquibul Hasan, Mohammad Ashraful, and Habibul Bashar Sumon. Notably, musician Asif Akbar has become a voter from the Comilla District Sports Association.
