Jubo League Leader Arrested in Connection with July Uprising Murder Case

Narayanganj: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday arrested a Jubo League leader in connection with a murder case related to the July Uprising. The arrest took place in the Fatulla Thana area of Narayanganj district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individual is identified as Ujjal Das, the general secretary of Ward No. 44 of Sutrapur Thana Jubo League. Aged 44 and the son of the late Haripad Das, he resides at Justice Lalmohan Das Lane, Katherpool, Sutrapur, Dhaka. The arrest is linked to a murder case filed at Sutrapur Police Station on September 1, 2024.



The case involves the murder of Nadimul Haque Elem, an activist of the anti-discrimination movement and a former student of Sheikh Borhan Uddin College. He was shot on July 19 of the previous year at Patla Khan Lane near Kabi Nazrul College in Old Dhaka. In connection with the same incident, Md. Shamsul Alam Arefin, a leader of the anti-discrimination student movement, filed another case under sections 34/109/149/302 of the Penal Code at Sutrapur Police Station on August 24 of the previous year.
