Dhaka: The Department of Environment carried out mobile court operations yesterday in the districts of Bhola and Narail, resulting in the seizure of 2,544 kilograms of banned polythene.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during these drives, two legal cases were initiated against individuals involved in the production, sale, supply, and marketing of the prohibited polythene. A total fine amounting to Taka 2.20 lakh was imposed as a result. The drives also served as an opportunity to raise awareness, with marketplaces, supermarkets, shop owners, and the general public being cautioned and informed through the distribution of awareness leaflets.
In a parallel effort to combat noise pollution, mobile court drives were conducted in Chuadanga and Rajbari districts. These operations resulted in eight legal cases and the realization of Taka 6,500 through three mobile courts. Additionally, sixteen hydraulic horns were confiscated, and several vehicle drivers received warnings.
