Cumilla: Chief Adviser's Special Assistant on the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, has announced that the government aims to make technology education accessible to students at all educational levels nationwide. "Bangladesh is advancing steadily on the path of digital transformation. Students from Qawmi madrasas are integral to this journey. Equipping them with digital skills from the primary level will empower them to contribute meaningfully to building a knowledge-based society and a sustainable economy," he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Taiyeb made these remarks while attending a certificate distribution ceremony as the chief guest at a training workshop on basic digital skills for Qawmi madrasa students. The event was held at the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) in Cumilla. He highlighted the government's efforts to broaden the reach of technology education and emphasized that the training workshop was a crucial step towards achieving this goal.
The Special Assistant noted that providing Qawmi students with essential digital skills, alongside modern requirements, would enable them to access online education and utilize various technological resources. This, he explained, would improve their employment opportunities and allow them to contribute constructively to the socio-economic development of the country. He also mentioned plans for advanced-level training through the ICT Division and expressed intentions to organize similar skill development training sessions nationwide.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb distributed certificates to the trainees during the event, where 160 Qawmi students participated in the training in eight batches. The "Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE)" project, implemented by the Bangladesh Computer Council under the ICT Division, supported the training program.
The event was chaired by BARD Director General Saif Uddin Ahmed, with ICT Division Joint Secretary Mohammad Saiful Hasan and Muhtamim of Kasemul Ulum Madrasa Allama Abdur Razzak attending as special guests. Officials from BARD, trainers of the EDGE project, and Qawmi students were also present. Earlier, Taiyeb conducted a session on data governance and interoperability at Cumilla University.
