Dinajpur: Over 637 metric tons of rice have been allocated for distribution to 1,275 puja mandaps across 13 upazilas in the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dinajpur Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Anisur Rahman confirmed that the distribution commenced on Sunday morning and is being managed by the respective Upazila Nirbahi Officers and Upazila Relief and Rehabilitation Officers.
The rice distribution to the puja mandaps is scheduled to be completed by September 25. The allocation includes 81 metric tons for 162 mandaps in Sadar upazila, 49 metric tons for 98 mandaps in Biral, 80 metric tons for 161 mandaps in Parbatipur, 29 metric tons for 59 mandaps in Phulbari, 78 metric tons for 156 mandaps in Chirirbandar, 39 metric tons for 78 mandaps in Bochaganj, 68 metric tons for 136 mandaps in Khansama, 10 metric tons for 20 mandaps in Hakimpur, 81 metric tons for 163 mandaps in Birganj, 20 metric tons for 41 mandaps in Birampur, 33 metric tons for 67 mandaps in Nawabganj, 47 metric tons for 94 mandaps in Kaharole, and 20 metric tons for 40 mandaps in Ghoraghat upazila.
Dinajpur Puja Udjavan Parishad President Swarup Bakshi Bachchu noted that this year Durga Puja will be celebrated in 1,275 mandaps in the district. Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam stated that the district administration and police have made all necessary preparations to ensure the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival is celebrated peacefully. Meetings have taken place with leaders from the District Puja Celebration Council and the Puja Celebration Committee of each upazila to ensure all measures are in place to hold the festival peacefully across the district.
