Dhaka: Shipping and Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain stated that the essence of all religions lies in human welfare, peace, and patriotism. Sakhawat made these remarks at a program organized by the Gulshan-Banani Sarbjanin Puja Foundation in the capital today to celebrate Shuvo Mahalaya 1432.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sakhawat urged everyone, regardless of caste or creed, to work for the welfare of the country. He emphasized that all religions inspire individuals to combat unjust actions, lawlessness, and provide opportunities for self-purification, humanitarian service, and patriotism.
Dr Sakhawat also referred to the Sharadiya Durga Puja as a universal festival in Bangladesh, noting that it has been celebrated both in the country and globally for a long time. He highlighted that through this festival, close bonds are formed among people, societal differences and inequalities are overcome, while compassion and brotherhood are fostered.
On the occasion of Durga Puja, the Shipping Adviser extended warm greetings and congratulations to all the followers of this traditional religion. He assured that the government has made all necessary preparations to celebrate this significant religious festival in a joyful and peaceful atmosphere across the country.
Additionally, he urged everyone to remain vigilant so that no vested group can execute any malicious attempts during the Durga Puja festival. The event was attended by the President, General Secretary, and other members of the Gulshan-Banani Sarbjanin Puja Foundation.
