Dhaka: Police today said they seized several improvised explosives including petrol bombs and lethal weapons alongside contraband drugs and arrested 40 suspects in a protracted raid at the Bihari Camp at Mohammadpur area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) statement revealed that a contingent of 120 policemen from the Tejgaon division, with assistance from Mohammadpur police station, executed the raid at the site, better known as Geneva Camp.
The operation commenced at 4 pm yesterday and concluded at 3.30 am today, as per a police officer familiar with the anti-crime campaign. The DMP statement detailed the seizure of eight improvised bombs referred to as ‘cocktails,’ two petrol bombs, three long knives, six samurai-style weapons, five helmets, 11 stolen mobile phone sets, and 500 grams of heroin.
The 40 individuals were arrested on charges related to the possession of the seized items.
