Shariful and Majharul Secure Leadership Roles Again in Kishoreganj BNP

Kishoreganj: Md. Shariful Alam and Mazharul Islam have been re-elected as the president and general secretary of the Kishoreganj District Unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) respectively. The district BNP council, which hadn’t convened in nine years, took place yesterday at the Old Stadium in the district town.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman participated in the event virtually as the chief guest, while BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the council. The announcement of the results was made by National Executive Committee Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel after the votes were counted at around 10:30 pm on Saturday.



Shariful Alam secured the president position with a significant lead, receiving 1,522 votes compared to his closest competitor, Ruhul Hossain, who garnered 197 votes. Notably, 120 votes were rejected. For the position of general secretary, Mazharul Islam obtained 1,159 votes, surpassing his nearest rival, Khaled Saifullah Sohel, who received 611 votes.



The election saw participation from 2,090 councilors representing 13 upazilas and 8 municipal committees. Chief Election Commissioner and convener of the District Nationalist Lawyers Forum, Advocate Mizanur Rahman, confirmed the election results.
