Kishoreganj: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today called upon the party leaders and activists to respect party decisions and work in accordance with those decisions for the benefit of the nation. He emphasized the importance of unity and adherence to the party’s collective choices during his virtual address as the chief guest at the triennial council of the Kishoreganj District unit of BNP at the Old Stadium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman highlighted the challenges faced by BNP under the current regime, stating that more than five million activists were subjected to false charges. He stressed the importance of standing by party decisions despite individual differences in opinion.
The event, presided over by District BNP President Md. Shariful Alam and moderated by General Secretary Md. Mazharul Islam, saw a significant turnout. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the conference, while Chairperson’s Advisor Freedom Fighter Abdus Salam attended as the special guest. Joint Secretary General Habib Un-Nabi Khan Sohel served as the main speaker.
Tarique Rahman reiterated that BNP is committed to the democratic rights of the people of Bangladesh. He pointed out the party’s proactive role in presenting reform proposals to the interim government, many of which were initially suggested by BNP over two and a half years ago. He called for vigilance against rising invisible forces and emphasized the necessity of maintaining unity.
The conference unfolded in a festive atmosphere with the participation of thousands of party workers, who arrived from various upazilas across the district, underscoring the strong support for BNP’s agenda.
