European Parliament Delegation Engages with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Leadership

Dhaka: A four-member delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, led by its Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman, held a meeting today with representatives of the European Parliament at the European Union Embassy in Dhaka. The Jamaat delegation included Nayeb-e-Ameer and former lawmaker Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar, and the party chief’s foreign affairs adviser, Professor Dr Mahmudul Hasan.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the discussions were centered on the current political climate in Bangladesh, with particular attention to the upcoming elections scheduled for February. Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, after the meeting, informed reporters that the dialogue was cordial and revolved around ensuring that the elections would be conducted in a free and fair manner.



Dr Taher elaborated that the European Parliament representatives were primarily concerned with the integrity and transparency of the electoral process. The meeting underscored the importance of democratic practices and the global interest in Bangladesh’s political developments.
