Final Phase of 49th National Chess Championship Set to Commence

Dhaka: The final phase of the 49th National Chess Championship is set to begin on Thursday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) hall room. The competition will feature a total of fourteen players engaging in a round-robin league format.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a draw and technical meeting for the participating players is scheduled to be held at the playing venue on Wednesday, a day prior to the commencement of the championship. Participants include FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia from Bangladesh Ansar, International Master Abu Safian Shakil, and FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid from Bangladesh Army. Other notable contenders include International Master Md. Minhaz Uddin, FIDE Master Md. Sharif Hossain, and FIDE Master Mohammad Javed, all representing Bangladesh Navy.



The championship will also see Mohammed Shaker Ullah from Cox’s Bazar, Candidate Master Md. Abu Hanif from Sadharan Bima Corporation, FIDE Master Khandaker Aminul Islam, and Anata Choudhurya competing for the title. Grand Master Niaz Murshed of Bangladesh Ansar, last year’s champion International Master Manon Reja Neer from Bangladesh Navy, and last year’s runner-up International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman from Bangladesh Ansar will also be participating directly in this event, which is organized by the BCF.
