Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain today said no conspiracy can disrupt the upcoming parliamentary elections if all remain united. ‘The people of this country believe in rule of the elected government. Voters are eagerly waiting to cast their votes through impartial elections. We are working to establish the people’s right to vote,’ he told a views-exchange meeting organized by Hakimpur Upazila and Municipal BNP in the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Zahid emphasized that the people want justice for the killings of students and masses during the July-August movement. He stated that the public does not wish to see the rehabilitation of dictatorship through delaying the elections or the trial process, or by any other means.
Zahid further urged everyone to maintain trust in the leadership of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who he referred to as the worthy son of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. The event was chaired by Hakimpur Upazila BNP President Md. Ferdous Rahman, with Upazila BNP General Secretary Sakhawat Hossain also addressing the gathering.
