Gazipur: A day-long tree plantation programme was held at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) today, as a part of the university’s 50-year master plan to develop an eco-friendly and sustainable campus.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme was inaugurated by GAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman, who planted saplings of high quality fruit trees across six residential halls.
Prof. Mostafiz emphasized the urgent need to address climate change, highlighting the destruction of forests, increased carbon emissions, and the disruption of natural balance as major threats to the planet’s biodiversity.
He further noted that tree plantation is not merely an aesthetic endeavor but a symbol of life and a powerful tool for protecting the environment.
