Chattogram: Three people, including an elderly woman and her daughter-in-law, were killed and at least five others were injured in a road accident at Hasandhandi Pathanpool near Dohazari on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway under Chandanaish upazila of the district this morning. The accident occurred around 11:10 am when a Chattogram-bound passenger bus of Eagle Paribahan rammed into two CNG-run autorickshaws, leaving three dead on the spot.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, all the deceased and injured were passengers of the autorickshaws. The deceased have been identified as Fatema Begum, 75, and her daughter-in-law Shamima Akter, 42, residents of Kazi Bari under Chandanaish municipality, and Md Sharif, 26, a medical representative of a private pharmaceutical company from Mymensingh district. The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbub Alam of Dohazari Highway Police Station confirmed the incident and stated that the bus has been seized from the spot.
